The Young Performers Company Seeks A Choreographer / Dance Teacher

Published: 29th December 2021

The Customs House is seeking an enthusiastic and committed choreographer/dance teacher to deliver an exciting programme of dance to our newly created Young Performers Company which is launching in January 2022.

Our aim is to give our students the opportunity to gain experience working alongside those in the professional dance industry by commissioning professional choreographers/teachers to create dance works for our young members. These works are then performed by the young people to audiences within our theatre at our mini-pantomime, summer musical production and winter gala show.

Our selected choreographer/teacher would join us from 16th January 2022 until 23rd April 2022. You will join our students each Sunday afternoon during term time from 1pm-4pm at our venue in South Shields. You will be teaching students who range in age from age 8 to 18 years of age and must be able to teach a range of different dance styles.

It is essential that you have a passion for sharing the joy of dance and movement.
You should also be an inspiring teacher with the ability to encourage ambition and
self-belief and be an engaging communicator with the ability to create relevant experiences for our students.

You should be able to work collaboratively with the rest of our team, have excellent planning and organisational skills and be self-reflective and committed to continuous development to improve the experience for our young performers.
