Published: 3rd April 2018
Thanks to the generosity of The Children’s Foundation Looked After Children across South Tyneside can enjoy a creative project called ‘Painting The River’ .
The Children’s Foundation’s vision is to create opportunities for happy, healthy and safe children across North East England. The Customs House applied for funding a project with Looked After Children here in South Tyneside. We are delighted to announce we were successful and were awarded £800.
Elizabeth Kane Learning Officer at The Customs House said,
“We take great pride in The Customs House work with all young people. Our work with South Tyneside’s Looked After Children is extremely important and only possible thanks to the generosity The Children’s Foundation and other funders. Our creative project will allow children to make their own artworks inspired by The Customs House riverside setting working alongside David Wilkinson. Projects like this makes such a positive difference to children’s lives. It’s exciting to think about the artistic outcomes as well as knowing children will develop their sense of self-confidence.”
Artist David Wilkinson will lead the sessions.David has supported many of our projects here at The Customs House and we can’t wait to see what he helps the children achieve.
David is an artist and educator who is well known for his paintings, including several large scale murals across the North East. We are also pleased to announce David will be having a solo exhibition in our Upper Fusion Gallery showcasing his recent paintings and photographs. Further details of David’s exhibition will be announced nearer the time.
