Teachers Get Ready for Beauty and the Beast

Published: 24th August 2018

Teachers a visit to see Beauty and the Beast, a workshop in school or taking part in our drawing open are just some of the ways we can help teachers make school magical for pupils.

Before the holidays Elizabeth Kane our Learning Officer wrote to teachers in many of South Tyneside’s schools to share the most up to date learning programme from The Customs House. In case you missed it we want to remind you about how to organise a trip, book a workshop or take part in our schools’ drawing exhibition.

Beauty and the Beast The Little Panto with the Big Heart

If you are bringing a class to see Beauty and the Beast make the most out of your visit by booking an in-school workshop before or after your visit.

New Workshops Inspired by This Magical Tale

We have added two new school workshops that can be delivered at your school to our learning programme.

Our first workshop ‘Beauty and the Beast’s Enchanted Castle’ is for primary school classes. Working together learners will create a sculpture of an enchanted castle. They will use paper and card and construct an imaginative model. What will the Beast’s home looks like? Build your class’s team working, communication and creative skills. Explore the theme of architecture in an imaginative and engaging way. Our second workshop ‘Beauty and the Beast: Under the Skin’ can be adapted for key stage 3 or 4 classes. We ask your pupils to consider, “What is beauty?” Together we will explore the ideas of stereotypes and make a collage portrait. Learners will make striking images inspired by this classic story.

Both workshops are delivered as 2 hrs sessions and the cost include all materials and Discover Arts Award. For prices and details of how to book please contact our Learning Officer Elizabeth by email at Elizabeth@customshouse.co.uk or telephone 0191 427 8198.
