Panto Collections Raise Thousands For South Tyneside Charity

Published: 23rd February 2024

Generous audiences from the annual Christmas pantomime at The Customs House have once again dug deep to raise £12,355 for South Tyneside Young Carers, a project delivering support to young carers and their families, with the aim of improving their quality of life and reducing the risk of isolation.

We held bucket collections and the opportunity to donate by text, after every performance of our hit panto; Aladdin, which ran from 23rd November to 6th January.

Katherine Whale from South Tyneside Young Carers commented “A huge thank you to Ray and The Customs House for choosing South Tyneside Young Carers as their charity of the year and to all the audience members for their very kind donations. The Young Carers love attending The Customs House pantomimes, shows, and cinema, and we’re buzzing that their charity was recognised and supported ours. Thank you so much again from the bottom of our hearts, we loved it…OH YES WE DID!”

The Customs House Deputy Director Fiona Martin added “South Tyneside Young Carers work tirelessly to support young people across the Borough. I am delighted that the funds raised through donations from our very generous panto audience will help them to deliver the essential assistance they provide.”
