Deadline approaching for young filmmakers
Published: 21st April 2017
The deadline is fast approaching for submissions to the North East Young Filmmakers Awards 2017 (formerly Custom Reels Short Film Awards). NEYFA is dedicated to celebrating the best of young film talent in Northumberland, County Durham, Tyne and Wear and Teesside.
Filmmakers between 10-25 years old are encouraged to submit films up to ten minutes in length by midnight on Thursday 27th April. Films cost just £4 to enter, but for visiting The Customs House website you can enter for free with the code NEYFAWAIVER. Further terms and conditions, including information on how to submit, can be found HERE.
This year’s awards ceremony will be held on Thursday 1st June at The Customs House, South Tyneside’s premiere arts and culture venue. The ceremony will be hosted by Jason Cook (writer, The Chris Ramsay Show, Hebburn) with a judging panel including Loran Dunn (producer, Delaval Film, 2016 BFI Vision Award recipient), Laura Turner (writer, Eastenders: E20) and Eric MacLennan (actor, Star Wars: Rogue One, Tale of Tales).
Every eligible filmmaker who submits their work will be invited to our red carpet reception before the awards ceremony, which will feature live music, photo opportunities and screenings of the selected films. There are four awards up for grabs, and the winners will receive trophies and certificates, with an overall winner receiving a £100 prize.
