Episode 5: Jamie Brown

From Gateshead, Jamie trained at Bretton Hall (3-year ACTING), and is an established actor of 14 years (When the Boat Comes In, Hadaway Harry*, The Man and the Donkey*) and director of 5 years (Bobby Robson Saved My Life, Geordie The Musical), receiving widespread acclaim, and garnering Journal Culture, North-East Theatre Guide, Buxton Fringe, and WOW 24/7 awards and nominations.

Alongside his passion for regional theatre, Jamie also specializes in Shakespeare and is a long-standing Associate Artist, and Learning Director (2012-present) of 1623 Theatre Company, where he has taken on roles including Hamlet, Macbeth, Romeo, Bottom, Troilus and many more since 2007. Elsewhere, he has toured the UK in productions of A Midsummer Night’s Dream and As You Like It, as well as appearing as Benvolio in Romeo and Juliet (The Customs House).

He is a regular guest director for the Shakespeare Schools Festival, as well as an associate for the Theatre Royal Newcastle’s actor training programme – Project A. Early in 2020, Jamie received an Inspirational Educator Award from London Livery Company -The Trust of the Worshipful Company of Educators, where this year’s theme was ‘Teaching Shakespeare in Challenging Settings’.
