Development Officer

£16,000 per annum, full-time. Initial 1-year fixed term contract

The Customs House is a registered charity which offers arts and entertainment for all, serving the residents of South Tyneside and beyond with a varied programme of live performance, cinema, visual arts and projects for children and young people. Our building is open 363 days of the year and comprises a 437-seat theatre, 145 seated studio/cinema, gallery spaces, restaurant, private dining room and an events suite. We are now looking to recruit a full-time Development Officer to support the Executive Director in achieving the organisation’s fundraising goals over the next three years. This exciting new role offers an exceptional opportunity to help shape and develop our charity’s work.

As a newly created post, the Development Officer will primarily assist the Executive Director to grow the donor and supporter base in order to generate income. They will also provide a donor care service to existing funders.  Externally, the Development Officer will play a key role in building and strengthening relationships with TCH’s key supporters: primarily donors, trusts & foundations, Friends of TCH, theatre goers and ambassadors through organising and managing cultivation events, instigating communications and running lower level fundraising activities.

If you have the skills and experience to make a positive contribution to our work, then we would love to hear from you. Please complete an application form and forward this, with a covering letter, by email to kelly@customshouse.co.uk, or by post to
The Customs House, Mill Dam, South Shields, Tyne and Wear, NE33 3ND.

The closing date for applications is 29th November 2019. Interviews will be held for shortlisted candidates on 9th December 2019.
