Join us for a 3-course meal and a glass of fizz, as we welcome Mina Anwar, Ray Spencer MBE and Dame Irene Hays DBE DL to The Customs House Academy.

Actress and director, Mina Anwar is best known for her TV roles as Constable Maggie Habib in The Thin Blue Line, and Gita Chandra in The Sarah Jane Adventures. On stage, Mina originated the role of Ray in the new musical Everybody’s Talking About Jamie at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield and continued her role for the West End transfer. In 2019, Mina directed The Dolly Mixtures at The Customs House and returned in 2021 to direct Our Laygate.

Ray Spencer is a man who needs no introduction, but many people will be surprised to hear that Ray originally trained to be an accountant before finding his love of the stage. Loved by adults and children alike, Ray has made a significant impact to the community of South Tyneside, not just through his performances, but as a producer, writer, director and by continuously championing the arts.

Through her career, Dame Irene Hays has worked in executive local government positions and for central government. As the owner and chair of Hays Travel, one of the top one hundred companies to work for in the UK, she has been a champion and supporter of young people. The charitable arm of her business, The Hays Travel Foundation, was founded in 2015 to help young people achieve, and be the best they can be in their health, sport, the arts and education.

The evening will be hosted by Alfie Joey.
