Film Equipment Crash Course
Published: 23rd October 2017
Little Betty Films gave our young people a crash course in using technical filmmaking equipment in a workshop at The Customs House last week.
Our group members were given an introduction to using sound, lighting and camera equipment by Little Betty Films‘ Emily Grew and Robert McDougal. The session began with the young filmmakers tasked to work together to set-up the equipment. Once that was complete, Robert and Emily showed smaller groups how each piece of equipment is used to tell a story.
Once the basics were understood, the group moved on to shooting a scene of their current film project. Although the final film will use local actors, filming the scene was important to give the team real experience of how everything works on a film set.
The group will now take a break for the October half-term before working hard to prepare their film for a late November filming date.
Filmmaking at The Customs House takes place each Thursday from 5 to 7pm, and is suitable for 13 to 19 year olds with tickets costing just £3.50 each week. For more information or to join the group, contact Daniel on 0191 427 8193 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
