Welcome all,

I am often asked who owns The Customs House, and the truth is we all do.

We are a charity and all money raised or earned, is used to programme the theatre, cinema and gallery & perhaps most importantly provide engagement opportunities for you and your families and friends.

We readily acknowledge support from South Tyneside Council & Arts Council England. Their support is added to by Trusts & Foundations who support our work with some of the most vulnerable people in the borough. We also gratefully acknowledge the local companies who believe in and value our work and you, our patrons, who become Custodians, Friends and make donations and even remember us in their wills.

So keep buying tickets, meals, pints and ice creams as every penny of surplus goes to our charity and maintains the special building and the very valuable work it does.

Inspiring – unlocking talent, developing skills, giving a sense of well-being, giving a place for our people to make art, make music, make theatre, make friends and make memories. Their place to laugh, cry and celebrate together. YOUR Customs House. A special place.
