b'THE TAKEOVERThe Takeover is a year-round project developing young people as programmers, creatives, administrators and project managers, resulting in a week-long arts festival at The Customs House, delivered entirely by a group of 11-25 year olds. The immersive experience is led, planned, marketed, delivered and evaluated by the Takeover Team, a group of 11-25 year olds who are recruited from diverse backgrounds and have varying (as well as no) leadership and arts experiences. The team plan and budget for the week-long programme of events. They commission and brief professional artists, performers, workshops and creative experiences they know young people will nd compelling, and then support the delivery and promotion of the festival. Takeover has developed into an annual opportunity for young people to learn and put into practice new programming, creative leadership and event management skills within an Arts Council England NPO environment.JOE MCELDERRY SingerThere are ve arts based regional competitions that culminate in events during the festival: The North East (The Customs House is) a hub of community spirit andYoung Filmmakers Award, The Terry Kelly Poetry Prize, support showcasing local and international talent in allThe Takeover Open Art Exhibition, Means Teens forms, and I love this venue.
