Published: 31st January 2018

The Customs House is seeking a freelance practitioner to work with emerging arts leaders in preparation for The Takeover Festival between February and May 2018.

The Takeover Festival is an opportunity for new and emerging arts leaders and artists aged under 25 years old from around the North East to gain once-in-a-lifetime experiences of running a week of theatre, film, poetry, dance, music and visual art, and to showcase their own work.

You will work with The Customs House Learning & Participation and Marketing teams to recruit 25 young people aged 15 to 25 from around South Tyneside and the wider region to The Takeover Team. You will lead and organise a series of 20 training and development sessions that will develop the young people’s skills and confidence as well as leading two research visits. Interactive and engaging sessions will cover planning, programming, marketing, evaluation, customer service, budgeting, teamwork, facilitation and other areas of project management and delivery. You will, ideally, be a Silver Arts Award Advisor, although training can be arranged.

Members of The Takeover Team delivering the festival take on roles to support the planning and delivery of events in each art form, as well as roles in events management, evaluation, and front of house. More information can be found here.

The overall project is funded by Scottish Power Foundation, Barbour Foundation, Community Foundation Tyne and Wear and Northumberland, W A Handley Trust and Roy and Pixie Baker Trust, Arts Council England and South Tyneside Council.
